If you have ever called a dog your own it will come as no surprise that many people love their dogs much the same way people love their
natural offspring. Those of us in that exclusive "club" do everything possible to keep our dogs happy and healthy, enjoying a long life of love,

If you don't yet have a dog or are in between dogs, then we have some thoughts and videos we'd like to share. And if you already have a puppy
or a dog we'll give you some pointers on everything from choosing the right dog food, the best veterinarian, how to handle common behavior
challenges and how to just have fun while helping your best friend live a long and happy life.
Adopt a Dog, Save a Life
If you watched the video above then you have an idea of the fate that awaits wonderful dogs of every stripe, breed, color, size
and disposition...unless you help and adopt a new best friend for life the next time you are ready to bring a new dog or puppy home.
The most wonderful and grateful dogs I have ever met have benn rescued from the death chambers of the nations dog pounds,
incorrectly called a dog shelter in this silly world of political correctness. We may refer to shelters on this site for the convenience of
new visitors, but make no mistake, MANY are death sentence prisons for wonderful sweet dogs, and nothing more.
Spend another moment, watch this video, and see what this wonderful group is doing to help homeless dogs who are without
guilt, escape execution and find forever homes. They are just one of thousands of groups nationwide dedicated to saving
lives.
Puppies purchased at pet stores are frequently the offspring of dogs tortured in horrific conditions at puppy mills and come complete with genetic illnesses due to inbreeding. By adopting a dog at a
dog pound or dog rescue we can stop the puppy mill trade and make this a better
world for people and dogs alike.

A Dog's tale
It was January 4, 1996 and a short stop at a California animal shelter caused me to witness a small Chihuahua-pom mix being dragged by heavy
chain from a car full of yelling children and mercilessly deposited at the desk of the shelter. "We don't want this damn dog "...the woman yelled
and off she went, returning to her car full of headaches.
Within 3 minutes this hungry, dirty and scared little dog was on her way to being adopted and a few weeks and several baths later, little Bri
was a new dog, now 91/2 lbs. Born was a relationship that would endure all of life's joys and sorrows for the next 8 years.
Hardly a day goes by that a news story isn't reported in the print and broadcast media about the health care crisis in America and the
millions of people who don't have any or adequate health insurance.
As a result, many of these folks avoid or skip routine and more serious healthier appointments and many simply don't go a doctor at all unless
it is an absolute emergency.
It's no wonder that millions of dogs are similarly uncovered . If we have a health crisis there are facilities and hospitals that will
treat us, even admit us for hospitalization without a lick of insurance. Even a homeless person can show up at county supported hospitals and are
readily admitted when called for.
Not so for Fido. Veterinarians are frequently reluctant to admit a dog for care without financial arrangements in advance. click here to continue
